After the success of finding an apprentice last year through The Cornwall Apprenticeship Agency, we’re at it again. We took on Kieran Williams who is now a full-time member of staff here at Primary PC Solutions through this apprenticeship scheme and it has not only allowed us to gain an excellent staff member but it has allowed Kieran to attain qualifications and earn whilst undertaking the scheme.

We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic person for the post of Apprentice IT Support Technician to contribute towards the provision of customer focused, cost effective ICT support services. What we’re after in an Apprentice

We are looking for a motivated individual to join the team at Primary PC Solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic people to kick start their career within the information technology industry.

The IT Technician Support apprenticeship role will include:

  • Work with clients to understand details of faults
  • Resolving faults and explaining to the client the work you have carried out
  • Fixing and maintaining equipment, such as mobile phones, printers, laptops, scanners and PC’s
  • Assisting with system upgrades and setting up new devices
  • Recording problems within CRM systems so that task histories can be reviewed
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Identify the need for system and equipment updates

This is an exciting opportunity for the ideal Apprentice to achieve a suite of professional certificates and accredited apprenticeship training.

Desired Skills

  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft OS’ from XP to Windows 10 e.g. installation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suites
  • Ability to build a PC from scratch
  • Good troubleshooting skills – must be able to assist customers with a variety of software/hardware problems e.g. virus removal
  • Good time management skills
  • Should be confident with sales

Qualifications Required

There are no entry requirements to apply, however you will need to complete initial assessments in English, Maths and ICT.

Qualifications you’ll gain as an Apprentice

Once you have completed your apprenticeship you will receive NVQ level 2 certificates along with functional skills in Maths, English and ICT as well as an Employment rights and responsibilities project.

You will need to be able to demonstrate both written and verbal communication skills as well as strong IT skills and problem solving. As well as a keen interest in the information technology industry, with a willingness to learn and a can do attitude.

Successful apprentices will be based within our new shop and office space.

You will also receive training in a variety of Microsoft Certified Professional qualifications as well as CompTIA A+
